Sharpen up your craft with the pros

You're out there, writing, playing, but you want to take it the next level. Look no further - our coaches work with today's artists, day in, day out. They know what it takes to get a cut.

You want the inside story on what's selling in the industry and why it works? With years of experience up her sleeve, three time top ten hit-writer Emily Phillips will help you sharpen up your act and get your craft into shape (Get the full story on Emily - see her profile in Songwriting Magazine).

Signed to Warner Records as a backroom hitmaker, she’s as versatile as they come – recent hits include UK number one with Ruti, Radio 6 Album of the Week with Soak and a platinum cowrite was dance tune Hands Up from DNCE.

Want to write a hit? Learn from a hitmaker… Emily’s written with Jasmine Thompson, Florence and the Machine, Rizzlekicks, DNCE, John Newman, Lemar and Soak.

Write a song in a day!

Work starts at 9.30 with a quick briefing on song-writing for today’s market. By 10.00, you'll be teamed up in twos or threes and starting to write.

Emily visits each team in turn, reviewing where you've got to, suggesting ideas, feeding you the tips and tricks she’s learned working with today's top artists. We also sound everyone out before they come on the course to make sure they've got some good ideas, even if they’re just starting out. So you won't just learn from us, you'll learn from each other too.

We stop for lunch in the middle of the day but apart from that, you and your crew can spend your time where and how you like just as long as you have a song to perform by 6.00pm.

Because performing is the acid test - even if you’re just in front of a handful people. When you see how people react to your work, you'll learn very quickly what's working, what isn't and why.

And even after we're done for the day, we want to try and support you - whether it's recording tracks you've written on the course, mentoring on Skype or creating workshops on other aspects of the songwriter's craft...we’re here to help you make it happen.

When? Where? How much?

Corona virus has got us in lockdown but we will be back as soon as we can. In the meantime, talk to us about Zoom songwriting sessions. Yes, it does work!!
